Good evening from the Gold Coast!
Yes, as usual, it’s been a while, but seeing as I’m interstate, it wouldn’t be an interstate trip without a blog entry.
Well what’s happening up here? This week I have been on the Gold Coast for Microsoft Tech.Ed.
All in all a really good week so far of some fairly brain intensive sessions and some good time to have a look at some cool technology and looking at what’s coming up and get me re-enthused to play with some stuff.
The bone to pick with the event came this evening when we went for the Tech.Ed party which was being held at Movie World. Great you say… well, no… As you know, I am Coeliac, and cannot eat Wheat, Gluten, and some other goodies. After stressing this to the event organisers, who have done a stirling job with catering at the main event, Movie World went and let them down in a BIG way.
As I always do, look, assess, then eat…. well I looked, and what did I see.. Cous Cous (which is Wheat!) on the table CLEARLY MARKED GLUTEN FREE!
AHHHH - F%#$%#king morons. Any hoo, speak to one chef, who was useless as tits on a bull, find someone senior, who got the park manager and the head chef… well ripped them both new arseholes and made them take all the so called “gluten free” food off the tables as it was clearly not. The head chef couldn’t even tell me what was in the food! And just by looking at it, I wasn’t the only Coeliac who had concerns, just the only one who did something about it!
Any way, after 1.5hrs of yelling, they finally made me a plain steak and veggies which was very nice, but it really ruined the evening and I just mozied around and didn’t end up on any rides, and caught one of the first buses back to relax in bed.
It really shits me that people, especially Head Chefs, can get away with feeding people food that they can’t even tell you what’s in it, what’s even worse is they are willing to “poison” people with allergies and make them really really sick with no real concern.
If I were allergic to peanuts and had an anaphylactic shock, I could be one dead customer! NOT GOOD!
Any hoo, that’s enough of a vent about that!
What else has been going on? Well Nic and I have been together nearly 3 months now, and that is going great guns, I am a happy boy and it feels good!
Nic has had a really hard time lately with the loss of 2 grandparents, coupled with work issues it has been super stressful for her and a bit of a stressful time for me but things seem to be stabilising now which is good
I am just so happy that I have met someone so great! My life is so much better with someone in it!
On the work front… things are going really well. Busy as ever which is good. Client base is expanding at a nice rate which is good, and all in all, pretty happy with how things are shaping up in the new financial year.
Lots coming up over the next few months to keep me out of mischief…. Wisdom Teeth out Next Week, Steve & Helen’s wedding in Far North Queensland in September, Whitlams with the SSO in Sydney in September, and October will be pure chaos with Pink Ribbon.
Well that’s all from me for now….time to relax before another busy day at Tech.Ed tomorrow, then back to Melbourne in the evening - hope everyone is well and we’ll catch you all soon!
Ciao!
